Safety Guidelines for Launching Rocket Fireworks (e.g., Skyrockets, Rocket Missiles)

Rocket fireworks (such as sky rockets or missile-type fireworks) pose higher risks than ordinary fireworks due to their unpredictable flight paths and falling debris that may cause injury. To ensure safety, please strictly follow the guidelines below.

Step 1: Pre-Launch Preparation

1. Inspect the product packaging – Ensure the outer packaging is intact, the rocket body is straight and undamaged, with no leakage of propellant. Check for manufacturer information, warning labels, and launch instructions. Read all information carefully before proceeding.

2. Choose a compliant launch site – Use an open, flat, obstacle-free outdoor area, away from buildings, high-voltage power lines, trees, electrical wires, gas stations, and crowds. Never launch in confined spaces such as hallways, balconies, windows, or indoors.

Step 2: Setting Up the Launch Tube

1. Select the ground – Choose a flat, hard, solid surface.

2. Secure the launch tube – Place the metal or plastic launch tube vertically. Use bricks, stones, sandbags, or a dedicated launch stand to firmly press and stabilize the base and sides, ensuring it will not tip over. Never hold the tube with your hands or allow any part of your body to touch the tube during launch.

Step 3: Placing the Rocket

1. Identify the direction – The rocket body usually has an arrow mark or clear indicators showing the front end, rear exhaust nozzle, and tail stick.

2. Insert correctly – Insert the rocket’s tail stick into the launch tube so that the rocket body rests naturally on the tube opening. Ensure the tail stick moves smoothly without sticking, but is not too loose.

3. Never point at people – Always ensure the launch tube is aimed at the sky, never toward yourself, others, buildings, or any flammable materials.

Step 4: Ignition Procedure

1. Prepare the igniter – Use a specialized ignition device, keeping your hand at a safe distance (at least an arm’s length) from the fuse.

2. Ignite from the side – Use a specialized igniter, extend your arm fully, and stand sideways to the launch tube while lighting the fuse. Never position any part of your body directly in front of the nozzle.

3. Move away immediately – Once the fuse is lit, immediately withdraw your hand, turn away, and quickly retreat to a safe distance of at least 8 meters (26 feet). Maintain visual observation and do not approach or crowd around the launch area.

Step 5: Handling Malfunctions

1. If the rocket fails to launch within 3 seconds (dud or mid-fuse burnout) – Never inspect or attempt to re-ignite. Wait at least 15 minutes, then from a safe distance, use a long pole or water gun to tip over the rocket or thoroughly soak it with water. Dispose of it only after confirming no sparks remain.

2. If the launch tube tips over – If you notice instability before ignition, immediately extinguish the fuse, check the rocket for damage, and re-secure the tube. If the tube tips over during launch, run away immediately from the direction the tube is pointing and warn everyone nearby to take cover behind solid objects or go indoors.

Step 6: Post-Launch Disposal

After finishing launches, wait at least 10 minutes to ensure no hissing sounds or residual flames remain. Thoroughly soak the launch tube and all debris with water, ensuring complete extinguishment. Dispose of the soaked waste in a trash bin. Do not leave residues on the ground.

Prohibited Actions

1. Never hand-launch – The rocket’s thrust upon ignition can easily cause it to slip, explode in your hand, or strike your face.

2.  Never aim at people or property – High-speed rockets can cause severe injury or fire upon impact.

3. Never aim at sewer openings – Methane gas explosions can be instantaneous and extremely powerful.

4. Never relight a dud – Delayed explosions can occur without warning.

5. Do not modify products or launch in restricted areas (e.g., schools, forests, near hospitals).

6. Do not clean up before fully extinguished – Residual sparks can ignite trash bins or start fires.
